Marcey Flood Memorial Scholarship
A Collaborative Award from TCT and Tacoma Community College
The Transportation Club of Tacoma founded this scholarship to provide financial support for a student with solid academic skills and character interested in the transportation industry through a partnership with TCC.
Award amounts may be adjusted according to student’s credit load and numbers of quarters enrolled at TCC.
Award: $1,500. Financial Need: Non-needs based
Available to TCC students in transportation/logistics programs, especially those facing financial challenges.
Criteria:
Must be a Washington State Resident as determined by Enrollment Services.
Must be applying for the Global Logistics Certificate from TCC
Must be planning to transfer to a 4-year university or college.
Must have a GPA of 2.5 or greater.
Must attend the entire academic year
Must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress as determined by Financial Aid.
About Marcey Flood:
The Marcey Flood memorial scholarship was named in her honor and memory after she lost her battle with cancer in 2020. The Club graciously renamed this scholarship, in association with Tacoma Community College, because Marcey was a life-long educator and long-time supporter of the Transportation Club of Tacoma.
She spent her career at St. John’s Catholic School in Seattle overseeing the Pre-K program and was incredibly passionate about early childhood education. Her dedication to teaching and student success had a positive impact on countless students and their families.
Marcey was a strong supporter of the Transportation Club of Tacoma, volunteering and helping her husband Tim during his 15-year tenure with TCT. The Flood family participated in several Habitat for Humanity builds over the years with their children (Emma 25 and Adam 23) and was involved in many other Club activities. Her legacy lives on with this scholarship inspiring student success at TCC.

After a rough childhood, I decided to go back to school as a working adult to give my children a positive role model in life and prove to them that if I can do this, so can they. During the Covid shutdown this became harder with kids at home and becoming a student, employee, teacher and mother.
Your generosity has enabled me to push towards the sky and not quit. Funding gets tight when you are being pulled from all directions, and this gives me a little cushion to afford books and whatever my next chapter will throw at me. From the depths of my heart, thank you. Thank you for considering me. After a lifetime full of ‘No’s, I am finally hearing ‘Yes’.
Thank you for allowing me to support my family a little easier. The future is bright, and I intend on grasping all I can. Alana Pashia
